My B3 Review - first look
« on: November 03, 2014, 03:07:08 PM »

Also known as "why I hate Dave (ProcricketB3), but in the nicest possible way".

I don't have the money to waste on bats, and this time of year I certainly don't need one. Then ProcricketB3 comes along Friday last week, starting the thread about the "special bats at special prices".  Whilst I have always wanted a B3, I didn't think there would one that I could afford (in fact, there still isn't).

He chucked a few nice looking bats up and was sorely tempted but wanted to hang on.  The Misbah looked nice and was probably going for it when he chucked up this one. 6 reasonably straight grains and a bit of heartwood on inside edge.

An absolute steal at £80 + P&P.  So I gave B3 a ring and spoke to both Dave and Streaky (I think it was).  Both were very nice and helpful. Told me a few bits about the bat and sorted the payment.  Posted out same day and delivered by lunchtime today.  Great service.

The bat was advertised as 2:12, but comes up at 2:11 on my scales.  The finishing on the front is excellent and decent on the back.  There are a couple of patches which is not 100% smooth but certainly nothing to be worried about.  This was advertised as a sample bat, so I did not expect perfect finishing. He couldn't say who it was for, and neither will I, I think but it is certainly nice to have one of his shape.

I have tapped it up gently with a new ball and the rebound is very good.  A small blemish feels a bit harder, but still goes well.

Bat picks up really well for it's weight. The one thing it feels is a touch short, maybe that is me not picking a bat up for a while but I will check with my others tonight.

Overall, for the price, very happy. Would definitely do but from there again.

Thanks guys.

Stickers were extra, and this is not a B3 as such.  Like the plain look.

The weight being slightly lower is better for me.  Have been playing around with it, feels really nice in the hand. Just going to change the grip I think for a nice hybrid.

After thinking it was a touch short, I measured it against a Kudos and a Kahuna, exactly the same size.  Not sure why it felt short but it isn't.

is the toe tapered ? Maybe that's why you feel it to be shorter .
