H4L Devil
« on: November 07, 2014, 02:06:33 PM »

Hi all

Thought I would share a recent acquisition that I was fortunate to get. Delivered today so brand new out of the packet.

Hell 4 Leather Devil weighing 2:12.3, regular short handle length bat.

Decent pick up doesn't make it feel too heavy (I would have said 2:11-2:12) and a seems to be a nice long middle by the tapping up I have done.

Half-a-dozen fairly straight grains with a little bit of heart wood on the outside edge. Only one noticeable blemish very near the toe.

And the proof...

Regards

Joel

Looks a good stick! Some of the H4L Devil bats amaze me, great value for money! I've hopefully got a G1 Hellfire Monster coming next month :)

How is the finishing? I only ask as it is a dvl I assume they are given the same level of love and attention as the normal H4L bats?

Because that is what it says on the stickers?

Genuine G3. Only 6 grains, little bit wobbly.

Good looking bat. How much did it cost you?

Thanks for clearing that up, I do struggle with reading!  :D

I thought the Devil grade were bats with inperfections/factory repairs that weren't covered by the warranty (eg knots on the edge, repaired cracks) or am I getting confused??

It states in a review ...

"The “Devil” comes from the grade 3’s and 4’s, the type of wood now neglected but were once the staple diet of a club changing room before artificial taste of 40mm edges and 10 perfectly straight grains "

Finishing is generally good. No less that others. Natural finish so not got that waxy feel like some.

Where's the blemish?

6 grains was Geoff Boycott's preference. He scored a few runs.
