Is that a counterbalanced weight at the top of the handle?

Yeh I thought that as well. Correct me if I am wrong but I think they use medical tape under the grip then just roll it back over.

They probably put something to actually add weight under the medical tape too bud!  ;)

Yep. Lead tape usually.
I've never used a counterbalance weight before, but I'd be interested to see how effective they are.

Looks like a Laver with the C-10 handle... Their standard herringbone grip too...

I use an old grip cut up into rings, pop 3 or 4 of them on the top of the handle, you'd be surprised the difference it makes! You don't need anything too heavy to be honest, as it's right at the end of the handle, the counterbalancing effect is a lot bigger then you'd imagine.

I used lead tape but never found it very good. I was all over the shop with it.

I have found a cut grip or two makes it feel much better, but I guess it is whatever you get used to.

To me it seems a bit mad, "my bat feels too heavy, so I'll add some lead to it to increase the weight"....

It's not weight, it's balance.

When pick up isn't very good, add stuff to make it better.

I don't think it makes much difference and you would get used to anything with time.

He is not adding any weight. He cuts his handles short, and then replaces the little bit of lost weight, with the tape, to ensure the balance stays the same despite the shorter handle.
