On any stage 264 runs takes some doing, he has to have a certain % of raw talent to score those runs in the 1st place.

You can only play whats bowled at you, cant blame the batsmen for putting away bad bowling. Do feel a bit for SL who kindly stepped up when the WI went AWOL and dont think they are repping themselves too well given the performances they have put in so far.

I get the feeling you arent his biggest fan though Gerry?

Clown?? He has scored 50% of all double hundreds in ODI and the first one was against a decent bowling attack. No doubt this is a flat track but you still need to be a very good player to get a 100 on this leave alone 250+

Anybody understand BBC Sports comment about Rohit becoming only the second person to score 2 double centuries in ODI's?

SL bowling was List A at best...

Does 264 runs get scored often against 'List A' bowling?

Must be dull to watch if it is.

Agree you can only hit whats put in front of you, but all 4 have been hit in India if i'm not mistaken? Think that might say something about the conditions these runs were scored in......

Also, Kohli wearing buckled pads. Draw your own conclusion on that. Look bloody uncomfortably to me, especially when velcro does a job for everyone else, and they're not his boyhood pads (a la Tendulkar)

Records nearly always get broken in exceptional conditions. Think Laker and the Old Trafford Sticky Dog. Small boundaries, flat decks and average bowling will produce batting records. You still have to have the talent to do these feats and well done to Rohit, great entertainment. It's hardly relevant to facing Mitchell Johnson on a Perth flyer in the WC (that's an example btw).

Everytime Sharma has played in sporting conditions, he's bern exposed.

Yes it takes a certain amount of ability to score 200 in any form of cricket. But not when your are playing a team totally not at the races...

If Sharma scores a 100 on the upcoming tour of australia, I'll happily say he's done well.

For all who think that was not that big a feat take this scenario, if an English/Australian bowler in their home conditions with their favourable track get 8-10 wickets of hapless Indian team (with no clue of sorts) in an ODI or a Test match would you not commend his feat. In this case both India & SL are habitual to conditions. I know he had luck on his side, but to achieve feat of that sort you need that to be the case.

I am not his fan, he won't even be in my India XI but his achievement has to be acknowledged. Really don't understand why some people have to be so negative and criticise it.

Doubt you saying well done or calling him a clown makes much difference to him.

Gerry, you are all mistaken mate- its all part of Sri Lankan revenge plan. (previous world cup loss)  ;)

Sri Lanka have booked an opener spot for Sharma in the world cup who will fail in Australia getting India out in the first stage.  :D

Now we know how he scored those 264 runs - Heavily concaved bat, thin toe & a toe guard ...so conventional  ;)
