I'd happily be classed as a clown if I could score a double hundred, no matter what the bowling standard was like.

reasonable to say that when you get a big score you make even the best bowling look rubbish.

wonderful performance.

50 off 70 balls (Ali Cook style) the 212 off the next 100. (if only...)

makes a huge mockery of the suggestion that if you bat through you make 100 and that is enough!

Without doubt a terrific knock, clean hitting all round the ground.

But...

The standard of fielding and bowling fromSri Lanka was well below par, some of it totally inept. Couple that with YET ANOTHER bowler's graveyard wicket and it's a recipe for a big score.

Take nothing away from the lad, but if India keeps producing such one-sided wickets I'd rather watch paint dry...

4 Double hundreds in ODI cricket...

All scored in India
All by Indians
All since 2010

Lets say ODIs in India are designed for two things... making money through advertising and runs being scored!
lightning outfields. roads to bat on. and small boundaries for all the advert boards to fit in.

However that flick he hit from outside off stump over long on with no follow through  :( RUDE

Fair play, to score 200+ is impressive. It is getting boring watching ODI's on flat tracks, regularly racking up 280+ etc.. Get some sporting wickets for christ sake, it's really boring and making avg players have awesome stats.

I went and watched NZ Vs SA at my local ground the other week (First ever at the ground) and it was ok, pitch was "sporting" and Amla scored a great 100. However, I would have much rather watch Rohit score a 200 live or one of the two teams playing rack up 400 any day of the week. Boring? I don't know about that one.

Thats some achievement. Two double hundreds.
Doesnt matter whether it was quick outfield, small boundaries, crappy bowling or fielding. Its lot of runs :D
And there are other 20 guys also playing, they didnt get it. So....

I get what you are saying but consider this that India is probably the worst bowling side in top 8 ranked teams (ODI or Test) and some of the best batsmen are in other teams (as Indians are just flat track bullies) then why have no one else from other nations scored doubles in India. I know its boring, I am bowler (not very good by all accounts) and the sight of a fast bowler ripping through sides is very appealing but what I struggle with is that guys who smash the likes of Steyn, Johnson etc. are getting out to guys like Yadav, Kumar, Rahat Ali....mind boggling.

I personally cannot stand Rohit, he is another Yuvraj and I have been disappointed so many times that I would rather not have someone like that. I liked Sachin for what he was but enjoyed watching Shewag, Dravid & Laxman more.
