my home refurb..
« on: November 15, 2014, 07:08:50 PM »

I know i have already posted a few pics of this bat already but it was a slow day here with a poorly baby (cough and cold) so decided not to go anywhere and have a day watching films as a family. Well there is only so much a man can take (3 girls in this house) and as my new grips had arrived i decided to set too on a little refurb job.

Simple process really, scuff sheet and tape ere already off, hand sand down through the grades. A light oil (i actually used olive oil) and a polish with a drill attachment. I also removed the rear stickers as i thought they were a bit too much. (sanding and oiling also)

Well here is the finished result. not a perfect job but good enough for me. The grips were not the yellow that i thought they would be but i kind of like it.

I am really liking the feel of this bat and i have no idea whether what i have done would have had an effect but it is definitely pinging better then when it arrived. so all in all pretty pleased.

I have been told a few times that it does pretty much the same job, read it a bit on the internet as well. I didn't have any linseed so i thought i would try it.

Its not a new bat just needed a little freshen up. Seemed to do the job if you ask me.

Olive oil will go rancid where I believe linseed oil won't

Agree olive oil will break down at low temperatures.

olive oil is a good option. it is much healthier, and a much needed change amid this bat-obesity epidemic.
