Kookaburra 2015
« on: November 18, 2014, 03:13:59 PM »

So, today we visited Corby to handpick some of our Kookaburra 2015 stock. Not all models are available yet so we have taken fewer bats than normal. We visit probably on average once a month so we are always able to pick out bats to customers needs, and coming back for the rest of our stock order isn't a problem.

As always it was a great time at Kookaburra HQ, the sheer scale of the operation is mind boggling.

Picked up some wonderful bats, will post some photos of some notable examples when i can. Particularly noteworthy are some very affordable bats at 2'6 - 2-7.

I remember getting a richochet from you last year which was supposedly low end but had great grains and tapped up very well. Any such bargains this year Jake?

Here are a few nice examples of light bats in the middle ranges. Will take some photos of the lower end stuff (Cadejo 250, Kahuna 350 and Instinct 300) when i get a chance.

These bats all had the bat care information tag still attached which weighs approx 1/4 of an ounce.

Instinct 500's

Verve 400

Kahuna 550

A massive Cadejo - We had been told we would be lucky to find many of these bats as light as 2'10, so to find one so big at 2'9 was a real bonus.

That first Instinct 500 must be hollow!
Or crafted using magic! Lot of wood for the weight!

(And thankfully for my wallet 6oz too light!)

A few, though in general this year the lower end bats look as you would expect bats around £100 to look.

Wow, nice looking kookaburras again! Has to be since about 2005 since I've seen one I might actually want? Can't believe that Instinct at 2.5, looks like you've got some gems there Jake.
Might have to keep an eye out for cheap grainy ones to use as net bats, helped a couple of my mates pick out bottom end Ricochets last season which were genuinely nice bats even if you ignore the £100 price tag, both went like guns.

Is the verve the one with the new type handle thing? If so what's it like?

This is why I wish Kookaburra showed the shapes to the public earlier, I may have had a preorder with them if they had! Lovely looking bats, big bats for the weight!

Cadejo is probably the fullest, but isn't available in long blade. The Instinct and Verve have very little concaving, the Kahuna a little bit more but still a very full shape.

We have this Kahuna 550 LB, 2'10 on the nose.

It is yes, it feels a bit thicker, and also quite nice and spongy at the same time. No idea how it would feel during play (ie if it would act as a shock absorber) but in the hands it feels nice.
