Not sure what's more annoying that. Or the lack of admins input on this??

Thanks for your support @Smilley792, it's always good to have members on side. Bear in mind we can't win whether we introduce something or not. 

This has been looked at and it is not clear why some members don't have it working properly and others do.

In order to work it out there are a number of tests we have to do which requires us to leave it turned on so you'll just have to bear with us on this one.

Don't know if it's connected but couldn't find a mention of it anywhere else, but I keep getting the random [1], checked and it's not any of the obvious mentions/post likes etc. Stays there for a while each time and then disappears, anyone know why?

Same here and my postings are definitely not interesting enough to get mentions. At least i know now to ignore them, it was driving me mad.
