Hi guys, what's the best product/ method for a deep satin finish on a bat?

Interested to hear about colourless products and techniques...

The better the finish, the better the shine regardless of the type of wax/product used. You've really got to spend the time with the sand paper. As a final finish you can use scotch pads/wheel. You can then either use an off the shelve product like Sheridan wax (sold in  tescos !). Or you can make your own - bees wax / linseed mixture, like salix produce - or buy theirs.

Sheraton wood wax is a wood balsam it contains beeswax pine turpentine and cold pressed raw linseed oil it is used in the furniture trade to clean and nourish wood should you decide ti use it it will give your bat a shiny finish for best results buff using small circular movements to bring out the shine

Yes I've used Lord Sheraton caretaker wood balsam before, it's does have a nice finish but and has a slight colour... Does the salix (etc) wax give the same coloured finished?

Yep, the Salix bat wax is tinted a yellowy orange, due to the linseed content in it.
