Custom made Hunts bat from Tony

Hi guys, visited Jake last week and fancied a trip to see Tony for a custom bat. Having seen the quality of a few hunts bats posted and the very attractive prices for a custom through Jake thought I would venture down there. I have also moved to East Anglia so closest bat maker now.

Anyway I went through quite a few clefts with Tony.  I was after something with good grain structure through the toe nice and straight and I like heartwood on my bats so picked a few out and then Tony asked what weight I wanted the bat to finish which I said 2.9 and we selected best cleft. Tony did mention that this is what he would select for a pro player and it will play exceptionally well but may not last a huge amount of time due to being a very light density cleft for the weight. This is a big bat with 39mm edges and naked was less than 2.7. Then he set to work.

Tonys experience is really telling when you watch him make a bat in front of you, whist holding a conversation with me all the way through. I asked for this shape which is basically the shape that I had Andrew create for me when he made my custom SLX but this has more wood on the shoulders and a very very long driving area. No concaving and a rounded face, semi oval handle 2.9 bang on finished with a spiral grip. Stickered in the new Aura stickers

That looks a beauty mate! Not sure on the stickers but that's just down to personal preference. It's a very nice silver lining on the car crash cloud.

Very very nice mate looks as what you would expect based on Tonys reputation - a bat with a very high finish. How does this rank in what must be a large collection?

By the way East Anglian you May border on qualifying for the north XI lol

Lovely looking bat. I'm liking the stickers too. Might see if I can get some for my currently blank county bat.

Those stickers are awesome!

And the bat looks a beauty, not sure about the heartwood (I prefer it on the inside edge personally) but do I see a bubble in the scuff sheet??  ;)

Really nice finish on the bat and I quite like the stickers, something a bit different!  How much did you pay for it if you don't mind me asking?

Thanks guys, I know stickers may not be everyone's cup of tea but look a load better in the flesh. Yea the finish is very good on this bat and to be honest the few county bats Iv seen have been finished well.

I think cost was £165 as a custom from Vitas but check with Jake as I bought some softs etc as well

mine is amazing, Tony via Jake is providing a really great service at amazing prices for grade 1 bespoke bats, mine is a black cat shadow shape but miles cheaper  :)
