Happens here. England bought billy root on as sub fielder at lord........ He plays for an ecb prem side in Sheffield. Why one with did he get the gig at lords?

You'd say a 12th man only, and if 2 injured, then you play with 10 on the field.

At lords all of the YMCC help with ground work for lords tests with the best 3/4 fielders doing 12th man duties. Pretty sure it's the same at other test grounds as at headingly they had Jonny (forget his last name, ginger opening bat plays for eng u19s) as a sub fielder

Only 6 overs possible on day 2. 19 runs and 1 wicket in that time.

Faf got to his 4th Test hundred and got out the very next ball.

Amla 23* and AB 9*.

West indies finally won a session.

If van Zyl's going to be a future opener, think quite a few international bowlers will be lining up to bowl at him. Been flashing outside off all innings

South Africa declare 8/417. The Windies bowlers bowled a lot better. But then Dale Steyn hammered a 26 ball half century.

Boom. Steven with a 26 ball 50. Fastest ever at centurion.

West indies digging in though. 50 up for 0 loss off wicket.

Good start by west indies. Not too sure why Tahir is in this team with a bowling average of 48. Surely there are better spinners in south Africa than him

Dane Piedt is injured. Robin Peterson got injured in training.

Neither Simon Harmer or Shaun von Berg are getting a look in.

Strangely enough he's extremely consistent at domestic level, not a clue why he can't pull it off, only in test matches at the higher level as I've never really watched him in them.

Weather Gods seem to have played the deciding role in the second Test.

West Indies closed day 4 9/275. Fantastic centuries by Brathwaite and Samuels. Brathwaite in particular was very impressive, a batsman from years gone by.

Windies late evening collapse might give the Proteas a sniff though.

Currently WI trail by 142 runs. There are 98 overs on day 5. So if SA had a slog for 30 overs @ 5RPO(180 runs +/-), it would set the WIs 300 odd in 60 overs.

After the weather Gods had the final say in Port Elizabeth, the teams head to the Cape where the pitch should have a little more life in it for both fast and spin bowlers.

After yet another woeful performance from Imran Tahir, uncapped Warriors off spinner Simon Harmer has been added to the squad. Hopefully Harmer gets his debut, as Tahir's had plenty of chances and never shown he's good enough.

Good start by harmer. Looks much more threatening than tahir already. Have to question why tahir was continuously favoured over this guy.

Simon Harmer only became Warriors first choice spinner after Johan Botha moved to South Australia. Harmer and Piedt will most likely be the two spinners going to Bangladesh and India later in the year.

West Indies closed day 1 on 6/276. Should they reach 350, it could well be a winning score on a very dry looking pitch.
Plenty of batsmen got in(Smith 47, Johnson 54, Samuels 43, Ramdin 53 and Blackwood 45*) WI will be disappointed no one as yet as scored a 100.

Debutant spinner Simon Harmer bowled nicely and got the prized wicket of Chanderpaul stumped, only the second time in Shiv's Test that has happened!

Dale Steyn equaled then surpassed the iconic Makhaya Ntini's 390 Test wickets today. Should the crazy eyes return, Steyn could yet reach 400 at Newlands.
