Appreciation of Cricket
« on: November 19, 2009, 12:41:46 AM »

Hi Guys

Im not sure where to post this topic.......here shall do.

We all know people who seem to diss our wonderful game with the epic words: "Its so bo*ing"

To me it is sacrilege to call cricket bo*ing; especially from people who have no understanding about the intensity of a cricket match.

In cricket arguably the toughest challenge is to face express bowling 150kph+ constantly over long periods.

I've scoured the internet looking for videos that show how quick "express" really is (wording sounds weird but you guys know what I mean...visual footage that shows the violence involved in being able to bowl that quick the the strain to endure this barrage)

Most of the camera angles look over the bowlers arm and while cricket fans realise how quick the ball is being fired; this view looks stagnant to alien viewers.

Does anyone have footage of express bowling from a different angle?

Footage that enables you to see how far away the wicketkeeper is standing? (Some people thinks they stand 3 feet from the stumps!!!)

Footage that enables you to see the exertion of the bolwers delivery stride; the violent explosion of the delivery and then as he sails throught the air in his follow through.

Footage that enables you to see the reaction time of the batsmen.

This will not only be awesome for fans to actually pick up little details that the conventional view does not provide but also enables new comers to see close up the real skill involved.

This does not only apply to fast bowlingbut also in every other facet of the game where people cannot appreciate the skill involved.

Im not sure if I can fully convey my thoughts because its something Ive been thinking about for a long time and have much more to add but this is a start.

The anticipation of him emerging from the pavilion, and his walk from the boundary to the centre, is almost surreal. The sound of a passionate Indian crowd all chanting "Sachin, Sachin" as they wait in anticipation, followed by the enormous roar when he emerges onto the field, is electrifying.

on this video you can sort of understand the pace he is bowling, just look at the keeper taking a good length ball way over his head!!

I got that Shoaib video on my phone I watch it to psych myself up before a game. Then I get the brand new cherry and let her rip.

Yeah Shoaib to Ricky on Kings of Speed the ball was flying like a bullet I've seen that......... also on the same dvd when Brett Lee hits Alex Tudor in the face that ones pretty good too.
