Ti Grille for Albion Ultimate Debut

Good evening everyone

Another helmet change for me is on the cards! (I am able to give a 1st hand review on most commonly available lids, yet can't settle on which one I prefer...  :-[ )

I got an Albion Ultimate Debut as part of the £100 challenge, it's comfortable enough and I like that it goes further down the back of my head than my Masuri. I can overlook the fact it's the wrong colour (but if anyone wants to swap a green one for my navy one I'm open to offers!  ;) ) but the grille is the one thing I don't like.

My question is what Ti Grilles will for it? I know a maser grille fits so I could look for one of them.
Does the Albion Ti Grille fit, or was that designed to only go with the top of their range lids?
And will an Ayrtek Grille fit with a safe gap between grille and peak (e.g smaller than a ball)?

If anyone can answer these questions I'd be grateful, and if you'd also sell me one of the grilles that will fit please PM me!

Ti22 grille will definitely fit. I have an ultimate 98 with a Ti22 grille in my UK kit. Works an absolute treat.

Thanks mate

Turns out it no longer matters though, as some chopper spent £90 on a whole new carbon fibre Ulitmate lid and spare grille instead... And I'd planned to do it on the cheap, D'oh  ;)

Sounds good! I've been thinking of getting the new albion grill from season 2014. Does the one you got have that?

Yeah the one I've got on the way is the top of the range shell, and has a choice of a steel or Titanium grille.

Hopefully this is the helmet i finally settle on using! I've tried just about everything now lol

Is it one of the new ones with the larger grille? The 2013 ones seemed to have a smallish grille that I didn't really like. Where did you get it?

I think it's the latest grille, the one with the top bars at a different angle for better impact dispersion.
The Ti grille is an older one though so I'll see which one I prefer when it arrives.

And I bought it from a member on here

JB - I agree. Whilst I liked the 2012 grille, the very bottom bar hit my chin on some occasions. Partly due to my long face! I swapped it on my Ultimate for a Ti22 whch works well. Funnily enough though, the 2012 grille works fine with my Elite plastic albion and that's the one I use here down under. But the grille from this year looks good and the area under the chin has been extended.

The Ti22 is the best, and lightest, titanium grille in my opinion.

I think they ruined it with the new 2014 grille HOWEVER understandably needed to get it through safety tests.

Only if you have a long face like me!!!! Otherwise the 2012 grille will be fine and actually better as in contours around your face.
I think the comparison pics below sum it up. First is the 2012/13, Second is the recent 2014 model.

The lower pic of the 2014 model is the one I like, I would have bought an albion lid if lorimers had one of these when I got my masuri. They had the 2103 grill in but it barely covered my mouth never mind my chin!
