Asics Cricket Boots
« on: December 30, 2014, 08:50:21 PM »

Hi,

I'm new to the forum here, and I was wondering what asics cricket boots I should get? I've owned a pair of adidas SL22 and a did own the asics gel advance 3 and I've decided to go back to asics. Although, I'm more reluctant to spike up a pair of trainers that I got from the boxing day sales for £20 (was £120 before!) since I much prefer a mesh upper. If I do spike up my trainers, does anyone know a good place to get it done? Also, maybe I want one pair of boots for both batting and bowling (fast medium I am), so maybe a boot that does both jobs might be a good thing (adidas vectors comes to my mind straightaway)

Cheers

Millichamp & Hall have a sister company I think called the shoe doctor or something similar that spike shoes. If I'm not quite right I'm sure someone will correct me

Yes. It is the shoe doctor in St. James's street taunton. the benefit of spiking trainers is that in my opinion trainers are more comfortable and you can choose half or full spike.

I used Asics this season and was hugely impressed
Got gel speed menace from Asad at Uzi sports
Most times whilst playing, I forgot I had them on,,,at least as comfy as any trainers I own

If I did spike up my trainers, should I get another boot for bowling, since I have concerns that the shoe will fall apart real quick from the brunt of bowling.

We offer a spiking service fulfilled by the best in the business in my opinion.

As i always say to people, if you have a favourite pair of trainers then spiking them up makes sense, especially for batting/fielding.
But the cost of the spiking + the cost of the shoes means it makes just as much sense to buy a high end cricket shoe, especially if you are planning to bowl in them.

The Asics Gel 210 Not Out and Speed Menace are both great options for bowlers.

Brian and Brenda may be worth a shout, their details are somewhere here on the forum.

Fairly sure that's who Vitas get their shoes done by - I've seen a pair Brian and Brenda did and I'd recommend them personally

We use the best ;)

Don't get much business for spiking from the forum as B&B's details can be found somewhere on here and of course we make a little money on the service offered (not loads when postage is considered)

If you want an easy smooth transaction though feel free to use us. Brian and Brenda are very old school. No email, no website, cash or cheque in the post only, and they can be hard to get hold of. Took me 2 months to get the ball rolling with them.

There details are out there outside the forum as well I believe. One of our senior   (read old) players had his spiked. Personally  I think  if you like your trainers  then use them as such and just get proper cricket shoes. Mesh upper can be found everywhere these days and  with new balance, asics, nike there are just so many options these days.

The Gel 200 not out's I got from Vitas are great. Fit like a glove and didn't need any breaking in.
