Tour opposition in the Bristol area 25-26th April
« on: January 02, 2015, 07:41:11 AM »

Every year my club go on a preseason tour (previously we've been to Oxford, Essex, Beds, Scotland, France) and this year we're planning a trip to the west country and looking for opposition for a match on Friday Night, Saturday and Sunday.

We're a pretty mixed standard from guys who would be decent club players in the UK to proper village so ideally we're looking for sides that can put out a similar mix in order to give people aq chance at their own level within the matches where possible. We're looking for competitive games, but also clubs who know how to have fun and like to have a beer afterwards.

I'd really appreciate it if any of the local guys could recommend some club to contact, or (even better) if you think your own club might be keen.

Thanks

Late April in the West Country? Planning a long weekend on the Cider are you? I imagine it will be somewhat wet! Good excuse for a lads drinking weekend though!

Really needs to be April before clubs start their season, we've always been luck with the weather before, but it is always the gamble you take when visiting the UK to try and play cricket.

We've successfully had friendlies on that weekend in Bristol for the last few years, was even a batting day last season on the saturday with 2 not out tons and a couple big fifties in the game! I would offer to help you out but we're playing already that weekend. Ayrtek Tom's club are usually good for friendlies, we play a few against them each year and always have a good game - might be worth dropping him a line to see if they haven't got anything arranged yet. I'll PM you the local uni's contact details, they're usually looking for friendlies around then, so long as they can find a ground.

Hi mate, I'll ask dad how were fixed for pre-season games as he takes care of the fixtures. I know we have been approached by a few teams for a friendly so depends on our pitches and if we already have games in the diary or not.

I'm in Ireland ATM and back home late tonight so will get back to u ASAP.

Might be a possibility for my club @Kulli , I'm just waiting to hear back from another club.
I'll get in touch if it's a goer

Grand, this place is a great resource for these sort of things, and it's a bonus if I get to have a few beers with a fellow kit badger after that match.

Short memory @edge ! You asked me back in May when you joined...Frampton Cotterell.
May actually get to play you this year if my finger doesn't break into a million pieces first game of the season like last year  :(

Looking to have things firmed up before I head to Oz for the WC, so if i have an answer in January that's fine.
