Rutherford sux. No temperament for Tests. Latham unsure of so far too.

Williamson pretty much opens the batting for us which is crap. Same story for the last two or three decades for us Kiwi's. Makes guys like Hayden and Langer look amazing for what they did.

Who's the best Test Openers going around now? Warner? Dare I say Cook? Very hard job it seems.

Isn't that the point of being an opener though?? When wickets are like they are in NZ (ie, seaming and swinging around and not nice flat decks) the first hour or so is the bowlers. YOu have to dig in and see it off with solid technique and mental strength. Just shows there aren't many of these types around in the game currently. We have a lot of one day style openers though, ten to a penny.

I'm liking this game so far, seems the batsmen have to bat properly or they'll be out, much more enjoyable than watching someone just thrash threw the line on a non seaming/swinging wicket. Now, just need someone bowling 95mph thunderbolts to make it really good.

Warner without question is the best opener around at present. I'd probably go with M Vijay as being up there as well.

And I think you're being harsh on young Latham. He looks a fine batsman and in UAE he scored a couple of 100s

New Zealand where all out for 221. Nuwan Pradeep took a career best 4/63. Kane Williamson top scored with 69.

Sri Lanka is reply are 5/78. Doug Bracewell has 3/23.

The Kiwis putting on a clinic as to how to bowl on a greenish pitch.

SL's bowlers bowled too short with the new ball, had they bowled better they might've contained NZ to around 150.

Neither team has bowled well enough to justify 15 wickets in the day. The pitch hasn't really contributed to any dismissal either. NZ played aggressively, similar to how the played in Christchurch in the first test, luck wasn't on their side today. Sri Lanka bowled ok, but a bit short. NZ's bowling was IMO a bit better than SL, but by no means a clinic. So far only one man can say that the bowler got me out, and that's Angelo Mathews who got a beaut of a nut from Tim Southee. Kaushal Silva looked tentative on defense, ad it showed in his dismissal as he took his bottom hand off the bat on what should have been a regulation forward defense. Evenly poised at this stage, but much will depend on Sanga as to whether SL are still in the hunt tomorrow morning.
Can't see this test lasting 5 days!

If they played aggressively and rely on luck then that's not a good thing.

Yeah, I agree. Interesting day 2, unfortunately didn't get to see any of it as I had a match of my own today. Looks like the deck is flattening out now. Wonder if spin will come into it later on days 4 and 5.

Sanga! What a absolute legend. Another double added to the list. From such a precarious position too.

Total legend. I think he has reached 12000 runs in fewer tests than either pointing or tendulkar. I'm sure he is considered a god in SL so I would hate to think how he would be treated if he was Indian.
