Just a bit of fun for to brighten up a Monday afternoon.

Can be anything really, but NOT any of the list in red

First time reaching a personal milestones (eg 50s, hundreds or 5 fers)
Winning promotion

Only 2 exclusions so you can't just say "first ton" or whatever, but a moment you really enjoyed for whatever reason.

My personal one happened on tour last year.
We turned up to the final game, and there was a bloke who wouldn't shut up all day playing for the opposition. He even came and started chirping me and slating my team mates while I was doing the scorebook, and he gave me a load of verbals when I went out to bat (it wasn't just me, he "sledged" all 11 of us plus those on tour but not playing!)
In short he was the team gobshite lol!

He came out to bat at no 5 after I'd just got 2 quick wickets. He was suddenly a lot quieter!
As I uprooted his off stump first ball I couldn't help giving him the "shhhhh" gesture as a celebration and he scurried off without a word.

I particularly enjoyed that one just because he's been very vocal all day and it was a bit of payback!

A few year back england were playing on telly at 5.30 in a major tournament (I'm not a big football fan so can't tell you which)


Every game in our league started at 11 so they could watch the game. Except ours.  The oppo said it was a disgrace they'd been asked. And would be starting at 2 as per usual.


They won the toss and batted first. And we're 21All out after 16 overs.

We opened with our pinch hitter and knocked them off in 6 balls. 
2 hours spare before football started.
That beating was quote satisfying.


But I still say square cutting a quick for 6 to go to a 100 is my most satisfying moment in my cricketing career. And the scream.  I did as it sailed in to the trees was monstrous!!!

Well there's been a few but up there in a must win game was hitting the winning runs to win the division in the last over just as pleasing was scoring the runs off the opposition bowler who was a mouthy so and so.

Most satisfying would be winning the Cup Final here in the UK. Was an awesome effort by our team. We were far less fancied but got the chocolates.
Worst memory was only a month or so ago back in Australia when we bowled a team out for 8. We got them in an over and the game was over by 2pm. Umpires still got paid the full amount!

One that sticks in my mind from last year was the last game of the season, we were chasing 170 on a pitch where 140 would've been a hard ask.  As it was a friendly, I batted down the order at about 7.  Our two openers (15&16) batted well and put on over a hundred for the first wicket.  One of the openers got out after reaching his 50, the number 3 came in and slapped a quick 30 to get us within about 30 of victory. He got out and then we lost a few quick wickets.  I found myself in with the 16 year old lad, who at the time was on about 35 and we only needed about 20 with 7 overs left.  I played tip and run, so he could have the strike and get his 50 (was his first in senior cricket and his old man was at the other end umpiring when he got there)  The only bummer was me getting out going for the glory shot to win (Caught at cover by the only person on their team that could catch).  The lad went on and scored the winning runs with his older brother out in the middle with him

What was doubly satisfying was the colts manager telling me a few weeks previously not to pick him as he wasn't good enough.  He took a 5 fer the previous week for me and a 50 when he opened the batting for me, so I gave him the joy of telling the colts manager how well he'd done both weeks!  (His age group manager had been badgering me all season to get him in the team, but I couldn't for various reasons, including the colts manager vetoing his inclusion a couple of times...)

2 years ago in a t20 game for headingley this guy was playing for the opo team..

big timer played a bit if IPL scored something daft like 160 in a T20 game few weeks before.

anyway he wanted to open the batting and the skipper wouldnt let him.

He was kicking of saying he wasnt playing next week bla bla bla.

Anyway he comes into bat and ryan is bowling.. ryan sends him this awfull rank fulltoss i was expecting him to put it on the road.. smack straight on his glove up in there air caught a cover.

we all just looked at each other and started laughing.

goes to show even the pro's get out to (No Swearing Please) bowling

We had a cup game and I left a heavily pregnant and rather on the edge with pain etc. Mrs home alone to go play. We fielded first and I had left my phone with barman in case of an emergency. I was obviously stressed throughout fearing the worse and questioning my decision to play.

Innings break I get a call that she is in really bad pain and needs hospital. I informed my captain and drove home to take her to hospital. We weren't chasing a huge total and skipper said not to worry, we will be fine.

So, I drove home, dashed to hospital, got her admitted and then excused myself to go back to game. What was supposed to be an easy win situation turned in to a bit of a struggle as we lost 4 wickets in 2 overs. I had to go in at number 9 and steady the game for last 30 odd runs or so. My contribution was just the match winning six once we come to within 2 runs of winning but it was the most satisfying one. I played very very safe to ensure we get over the line and it worked. Blocking their star bowler and seeing the frustration on his face was quite amusing.

Ooh and I did went back to hospital to tend to ailing Mrs. Twins decided not to come out that day thankfully and it was just a false alarm in the end.

Didn't he call the umpire an f***ing cheat for not no balling it and then refused to leave the pitch? Funny that he was never done for it and allowed to play in finals day.

last season I nearly (No Swearing Please) myself in my car on the way to a game so i relieved myself in the car park bushes of a ground before a match. Unfortunately I don't have a dog so I couldn't put it in a plastic bag and pretend it belonged to a great dane/rottweiler

The two clubs I've been at in 2013-14 and won a few cups/leagues. I can honestly say I found it a bit.. Meh


I've found the most satisfying moments to be genuinely close, low scoring games when people are losing wickets and you just know no one is safe. Whether they are good or not. Those games are enjoyable, win, lose or draw.


My favourite game was vs Oundle town in 2011. They got 290 off 40 overs, so we had 60 overs to chase. They were too good (paid plauers and overseas), so once we had lost 4 wickets for 60 ish.. It was just bat for the draw.. I found it the most satisfying game as it was proper crixket. They had to get me out, I could just bat, pick off the runs and not be forced to biff. Need on a winning draw for them but they couldn't get us out so it felt like they didn't actually win. They went home happy, we went home happy. Win win

I fear this thread could rapidly progress from I faced so and so at 80 mph and he didn't get me out to who has had some very near misses in the bushes of cricket grounds over the Country.

not as good as the last thread but it did once have to relieve myself after too many drinks breaks behind a sightscr :)een when there was absolutely no sign of any other people,then a man and his wife walked out of the bushes with their dog and I just said
'hi' nice day for cricket.

my funniest moment on a pitch was when I turned up for a 10am start after a very very very heavy night/morning of drinking. I was so bad I forgot about the match, had not kit, was late and had to get a lift to the ground off a mate. Long story short. I went in number 4 due to the state of me being hammered, a few quick wickets fell, some fast bowler bowls one at me, I have one eye open, stride forward first ball and it bangs me on the pads. I stand there for a couple of seconds expecting to be given out. Umpire syas not out and I slowly fall to the ground in relief and just lie there on my back with the world spinning around. I couldn't get up so the fielders had to help me to my feet. amazingly I batted the whole innings, think it was the most I have every watched the ball in my life.

I was going through a stage of my life where I was very popular with a group of latino and Caribbean ladies ......... bring back those glory days

My favourite moment from last season - shot pinged over my head fielding at midwicket, chased hard and slid and pulled it in just inside the boundary rope, got up and put in the best throw of my life, flat and straight into the keeper's hands above the bails, ran the batsman out by a few inches coming back for the second. I get a lot of stick for throwing sidearm sometimes but don't think I'd have got the throw in quickly enough without it, plus it ran out the oppo's last proper batsman and opened the door for us to pick off the tail! Very satisfying to pull something out from nothing in the field as you don't get to affect the game that way too often, and it shut my teammates up about my throwing style for a couple of weeks at least haha.

Batting hitting an opening bowler into the tree tops and getting to 50.while the team score was 70-0. I'm Not a bowler, so getting a hat trick was special. T20, bowled last over of the innings (my first, thanks skip) and it went: .66WWW stumped, stumped, c&b.

Fielding in the covers a diving stop and throw to run out bat by half a pitch, a one handed running catch on the boundary and keeping a full length one handed low to the right.

I love cricket!
