I wasn't raising the point in the way many people have seen it. I personally would like to have a bat at the maximum width permitted of 108mm, but yes a few mm won't make much of a difference.

I was simply demonstrating that apart from miracle clefts or over dried nonsense from some Asian brands, you generally either get bats that are big, or you get bats that are light.

This third way of making them narrower is a little deceptive as everyone will praise that profile at such a light weight, but the reality is the bat is not full width, thus saving a fair bit of weight.

This one Paul is selling and the one I am knocking in are both lovely bats that I would happily use.

The 4th way some of your drill into bats!!!

I have never measured or felt the difference so far with all the bat collection i have. since you deal with bats day in day out how many bats do you see in general we in less width ? i curious to know .

I imagine there is some slight variation all the time, but i only really pay attention when a bat looks visibly narrower, forcing my inquisitive mind to keep asking over and over until i get the answer; 'exactly how wide is it?'

The SF I am knocking in isn't one that i felt was visibly narrower by the way, but in such a light weight and large profile i decided to whip the tape measure out anyway.

Ah how could i forget drilling ;)

If 108mm is maximum legal width, is there  a minimum?

Tape measure  probably  not the best  way  to measure such minute  differences, best checked  with a set of callipers. Round vs Flat face will give different  results  when using  tape for same width if you catch my drift.

I have seen a few remarks on SF bats that the edge stamps are inked and can run when you oil the bat. Wouldn't want to see that nice bat ruined in this manner or you'll be taking a few more mm off those edges lol.  Most video reviews I've watched have given me a high opinion of the top end SF bats. Nice purchase.

I had Ryan make me a joker esque bat last year. Harrow width. Short blade.
At first I did wonder what effect the narrow blade would have. And a few at my club noticed it was not full width instantly.....but.

I can't say I've ever thought it made a difference in the middle when playing. Not nicked many and thought, extra few mm would have saved me.... well it just goes from your head quickly and you crack on.

I believe there is a thread on here where people measured the edges and width of the bats, unsurprisingly or surprisingly most of the bats had something worth noting. On a lot of the bats the edge was bigger on one side than the other, a lot of the bats were full 108mm but a lot were also a few mm less. some were full width in certain areas of the bat and narrower up/down from that spot.

Someone will need to find that thread as I am too lazy but the general opinion was its not a big deal. I purchased a Lekka TPX a few years ago, it was advertised a T-20 bat (shorter blade) but the retailer never mentioned that it was also a narrower width, 4 inches instead of 4.25 inches, to me that was a significant difference  but it also pinged like amazingly well and i never felt any issues using it in a game, a few mm here and there are not even noticable in a match I would reckon its similar to change in performance due a scuff sheet type issue...you can't tell the difference except for whats in your head. I probably lose a few mm when I clean my bats up anyways.

Although one brand that is consistently shorter and narrower is CA but they do make lovely bats. Your SF is a great looking bat, hope it plays well for you.

Surely the perfect bat is the one that you as the owner are happy with and score runs with!

agree with u all .. that's exactly is my point ... 1mm or 2mm less of blade width or short blade or long handle may not make any difference if you feel it right in your hands. When i ordered this bat i just saw only pictures and Trusted Paul on his judgement never thought of smaller blade width or size till today .. i have around 5 Laver and Wood Signature bats, couple of LE from GE and GM and Salix too and some top bats for SS never ever felt any bat has smaller width only when the blade is shorter i felt its something different that could be me being 6 " tall .

Isn't this the scrotum-witheringly expensive model?

(Not from Paul - just generally)

If ICC allowed, I would rather have a few mm in the width then in the thickness of the edge size.

There is a delicate balance in this hypothesis where a 115 mm face with 38 mm edge, for me personally, would be better the 105 mm with 45 mm edge size.
