Here's one for our prediction crazy members.

Who do you think will be the Quater-finalists, Semi-finalist and Finalist.

Groups
Pool A                     Pool B
England                   South Africa
Australia                  India
Sri Lanka                 Pakistan
Bangladesh              West Indies
New Zealand            Zimbabwe
Afghanistan              Ireland
Scotland                  United Arab Emirates

My Predictions for QF:
England, Australia, New Zealand, SriLanka, India, Pakistan, South Africa & West Indies

Note: Outside chance for Ireland & Afganistan at the expense of India, SriLanka or Pakistan.

My Predictions for SF:
England, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa with an outside Chance for India or Pakistan at expense of England

Finals:
Australia vs New Zealand

Winner: Big gamble - New Zealand

I don't think predicting a new Zealand win is in any way a big gamble, they have home advantage and a fantastic team.

Not sure if the equations work out, but I think we could see an SA vs NZ final.

Calling it a gamble as they'd be up against Aus in Aus, think the final is in Australia right?

Quarter Finals
Aus - WI
NZ - Pak
Eng - Ind
SL - SA

Semi Finals
Aus - Ind/Eng (tough to call)
NZ - SA (will be played in NZ on ground with short boundaries. I think SA marginal favorites because of inform batting line up full of big hitters).

Final
Aus - SA
Hoping for SA to break free of the chokers tag. I think this one is a tough one to call as both teams would be under a lot of pressure; one being the home team and one being in unfamiliar territory.

I'm hoping Australia can bring home the WC. The boys have looked determined this summer after the Phil Hughes tragedy and seem to be putting together a fairly potent pace attack with the two Mitchels. Starting to bat very deep also. South Africa looked strong in SA but putting down 400 on a tiny ground vs a second rate WI is not as impressive on reflection as it looked a few weeks ago.

I predict England to screw up and not make it out of the group stage, Afghanistan will qualify.

Ireland will beat the West Indies and Zimbabwe.

Quinton De Kock's South Africa will choke on a semi again (sorry, couldn't resist!)

New Zealand will qualify for the final but fall short, the nearly men of the cricket World Cup.

Australia will win.

If the playoffs were held in next 1-2 weeks, then yes the currently strong teams would runaway with the title. Final is more than a month away and this is a long tourney. Cricketers are injury prone and form is temporary. I wouldn't discount India out from the final just yet - they have a very deep batting line up and a seasoned skipper.

There are three strong teams right now -AUS, NZ, and SA- but I don't think that all three will make it to the SFs.

My predictions –

Quarter Finals
QF 1 (SCG) = AUS v PAK
QF 2 (MCG) = NZ v WI
QF 3 (Adelaide) = SL v IND
QF 4 (Wellington) = ENG v SA

Although I really believe there is a possibility Ireland could sneak 4th spot in Pool B ahead of PAK or WI as they are playing awful cricket at the moment.

Semi Finals
SF 1 (Eden Park) = AUS v SL
SF 2 (SCG) = NZ v SA

Final (MCG) = AUS v SA

Winner = AUS

I think the final will be very close but you can’t underestimate home advantage and that will bring AUS through.

The venues are interesting though as I am not sure if they will change them to have NZ playing at home no matter where they finish in the Group, QF and SF (if they get though) as there is only 1 game in NZ each round.

Dark horses for me are sri lanka. Swan song for Sanga, Jayawadene, Malinga and Dilshan - out with a boom?
