Chest Guards
« on: February 09, 2015, 01:15:50 PM »

Just interested to know peoples thoughts on these?

Personally I haven't ever worn one on the ground of ridicule more than anything else.  My club is in an ECB Prem with some sharpish bowlers on offer so I wonder if it is at all necessary if I don't feel the need to wear one.  I'm generally quite open to wearing things that I feel will properly protect me (mentally helping more so than anything).

Are any on the market particularly comfortable to wear?  Are any moderately discreet?  (I'm thinking in my mind of Gary Ballance's ridiculous Michelin Man look in Australia against Mitch)

I've got an Arro P1 I wear against the machine.
Never worn one against real bowlers as it's just a magnet for short stuff!

Stretton Fox make a chest guard which is not very noticable under your shirt, think ItsJustCricket did a video on it a while back.

I wear Aero P1 in nets and against Bola. It provides good protection.

I do really like my Stretton-Fox chest guard, although I tend to only wear it in the nets as the pitches we play on are far too slow and low to justify it.  It is very light and comfortable, but I do still fidget with it a bit and struggle to bend it to the perfect shape, but maybe that's just me...
