The 2ND Coming of Heartwood
« on: February 21, 2015, 06:24:27 PM »

I know i have just got 2 more than half Heartwood but i see lots of players at the world cup using them too!!!

My reasoning to get two was partly down to this and also a mate suggested it but for the long serving members will remember around 6 years ago the advent of heartwood maybe we are going to see a 2nd coming!!!

Also i never liked them first time round may as well give them a go.

Them where the day  :(

I can remember heartwood being a fad at my club a few years back, following a load of players on the telly using heartwood bats.
Must have been 2007/2008ish I think, with everyone getting a new bat and declaring "It was on the Sky Sports commentary, if the bat is two colours it's a better piece of wood"

It will happen again No truth in it mind but this was a big topic in the same time period on here with the rise of the thief many followed and believed mate.

I was a angry young or younger man then :D

Is it not just because more the willow from Wrights has it so it needs shifting? Bit like Butterfly etc etc?   (Genuine question)

I have and have had a fair few bats with heartwood in.

although i doubt there's science to back it up (cos it's probably in my head or look of the draw) but the ones with heartwood always seem to go better than the ones without

3 if the best performing bats I've owned.

My good RPC has a very small bit on the outside edge so I'm not against it etc. Just as genuine question. It's been said that the quality of willow is low currently generally etc so I assume that means good willow goes up in price but people try and push the lesser stuff. Just asking Dave who knows more than I if that's even remotely true tbh

They go well but in my and a few colleges options no better than white willow but do break much quicker due to moisture issues with them.

Thanks Adrian i wouldnt say that.

Quality is only down for the smaller users if they say it is. I can confirm our willow supply if anything has got better than this time last year. There is a limited to it but the quality has gone up for sure.

I guess it depends if people are going direct or getting it of 3rd person.

Fully agree on the life expectancy. They do take some effort to keep in usable nick. Will try get a pic later of there current state.

Low density Rob i fancied a change but still got my 7-9 grain white willow in the bag my preferred but will only use these two all season.
