Just wanted to know if anybody has successfully switched from a mid middle bat to a lower middle bat. I will be moving from my CA's to my new B3 in a couple of weeks but am worried it might not work out to well.

I wouldn't concern yourself to much as I think that the idea that you need a low middle bat ( slow low wicket)or high middle bat (fast bouncy wicket) makes no sense as it is more about how you play Techique and timing is the key to batting putting  yourself in a perfect position to play the shot rather than  where the sweet spot  on your bat is.

Couldnt agree with this more.

I used to use low middles now i use mid to high. granted i like them to extend as low as possible. but the point is its made no difference at all, hasnt changed the way i play just means my bat picks up alot nicer now

I'm on the verge of switching from a very low middle to a mid to high middle, based on the cherries always seeming higher than yiud expect from a front foot batsman on low wickets.

As Crictech showed us, every one hits the ball higher up the blade than we think. most people in my opinion should be using a mid or mid to high middle as i feel that is where the majority of us make contact with the ball.

I tend to think that over time you adapt your shots to the bat you have.

There is an ultimate situation where the bat you have matches the way you naturally play, but that doesn't happen all that often and then you get into the crazed position where you have your perfect bat and either sell it and regret it because you are out of form, or use it until it breaks and can't find a replacement - then you buy another 10 bats and are never happy.

Hence why I suggest you buy a bat and just use it!

Crictech sheets are well worth the investment as getting your middle in the wrong place is expensive! I moved to a slow low deck and brought a lower middle bat. When I re-did my crictech sheets, the ball placement had moved only fractionally down from the normal high spot on the bat - certainly not enough to make a difference in middle position. In short you hit the ball in the same place through technique more than conditions.

If you can't get a crictech sheet quickly (I would recommend crictech first, doing it the scientific way), just clean you scuff sheet on your existing bat and then wet some red cricket balls a little bit. Hopefully the red dye will stick to the scuff and provide a DIY crictech alternative.

Again i completely agree. stop thinking about if it is wet or slow or low. just go and use the same bat you always use because you know how to hit the ball to get the best from your shot.

When the bat ans shape you like dies @Buzz you can just got to B3 have it maped and copied thats what ill be doing

This pretty much sums up my affliction perfectly. Found the perfect bat, it snapped, forever searching for something better and failing.

I find this talk of middles very interesting.

I see people talk about middles as if there horizontal enterties I see them as vertical from around inch from the toe up to the Stickers

The width is determined by by concaving and the pick up is determined where the bulk is.

Might sound strange by think about it I understand pick up bottom heavy is a change but middles are the Middle of the playing area going up and down not horizontal

It not a secret if you move the mass up normally a higher middle bat will still play well below the mass centre and we could go into the 2 Middle theory
