Morning wood, or should I say taking delivery of my GN100
« on: February 28, 2015, 11:00:45 AM »

So after missing out on a recent eBay purchase and wanting to get my hands on one of the retro GN re-issues the following GN100 popped up online and luckily my best offer was accepted. Delivered today and must say I'm very impressed with it for the price paid considering they're still nearly £200 from some retailers. Enjoy!  :)

Nothing better than getting new willow, starting to get a lovely collection there.

Thanks, certainly softens the blow of missing out on one of those clearance Mavericks that are on eBay at the moment and the fact that the x181 I was bidding on has started to go out of my price range for this month..

How does it feel off that watermark in the sweetspot? Normally much harder. Dony mind them on the toe for strength, just wonder if it reduces the performance there? Nice collection. Please compare them? My thought on shop visits are as follows
Not sure on the GN100. The romance of a scoop is still strong but ive always found their pickup heavy.
You have three different styles there, the powerbow generation x has offset edges, which supposedly extends the middle higher up the blade. I found the ones in the shops picked up quite balanced and lighter than expected.

The F18 has the pickup of a hot knife through butter, unless its the 3lb 600 xl, which just felt like the colossus. Suit me as i love the pull and hook as well as drive on the up.

I've only just got it this morning, but so far the response seems good off ball and mallet, planning on netting with it next week hopefully so can report back then.

The thought process behind the 3 different versions is the Powerbow is more for early season tracks (low bounce) and the F18 for the opposite reason with it being a high profile. I'll be honest and say the toe of the f18 feels slightly dead but you'd expect that really. The Powerbow is great all round in my opinion.  The scoop came about by chance but I've been wanting either that or a dynadrive since they were brought back.  It actually picks up really light, feeling lighter than the others. It was listed as 2'9 but feels lighter.  The Powerbow is 2'10, and the f18 2'9 incase you were wondering.
