Duckbill toes aren't new though, woodworm wands had them.

And as tony at hunts says all bats are the same. a handle, a small bit, a big bit and a small bit again. Only so many ways to change it. like clothes there will always be fashions.

I think that Ssh has a crack/split/surface imperfection.

I must say that is something I have been focusing on this World Cup...looking out for Duck bills ... is there a reason why so many players are using this profile? Does this let one have a meaty bat with a lighter pickup that's needed on the quicky and bouncy Aus wickets? Is there a logic to the trend? Would duckbills be useful on low English pitches?
