Lids
« on: March 07, 2015, 09:48:04 AM »

Hey all

I just have a slight issue. Basically been keeping for about 3 years, taken to it naturally, got selected for my uni first team this year which led to my technique being altered etc. Which is actually been very beneficial, however I have an issue with a normal batting lid as when you go into the crouch the lid digs in very painfully to the back of the head, I'm 6ft4, going on 6ft5. I know you can get scalloped lids. Or I think you can? Any suggestions?

Sorry if this is a duplicate!

Warm regards

Siri

Masuri do a keeping helmet with an arc cut from the back of the helmet.

Do they still do the keeping helmet? I have one but it has a steel grill, wanted a titanium one but I was told they are not doing them any longer. Shame, it is a good helmet. Other option I suppose would be to get a cheap helmet and modify it yourself.

Buy a Ti grille then mate, they pop up on eBay for reasonable prices or you can pay a bit more and get a new one from various sources online with a bit of searching.

On some helmets you can reserve the grill, a bit unconventional and can be a little uncomfortable, but works for some people.

I never said i did it, but i seen it done before. Guess it gives better vision without having the peak, so i guess a trade off between comfort and vision.

Try an Ayrtek.  I'm a 6 2' keeper and works for me.

P.S. congrats on making the uni firsts.

I'll keep a look out. New Masuri grilles are different fit so need an old style one. Not essential just be nice if I can get one.

Nooooo they're not? Elite/Test grilles are interchangable (I've done this myself)

Cheers pal, just annoying as I brought a brand new Masuri last season. Always money to spend when it comes to cricket equipment!
