Right,
I net 4-5 times a week ( probably adds up to about 10-15 hours in total). I currently just keep my gloves from the previous season and use them as netting gloves. What I've found though is that I'm making them crusty very quickly and destroying even top end gloves.

so, what can I do to either make gloves last longer?? or should I buy a load of cheap pairs and just churn through 20 quid sets rather than 60 quid sets? opinions wanted.

currently each session I use up 2 pairs as I don't want it all sweaty so I'd probably be buying 4 pairs so I can rotate each day

I always have inners in my gloves and a bit off baby powder in the gloves helps to dry the sweat up and makes your gloves last a little longer

What gloves you currently use? Pittards or non pittards?

I have a similar problem. I don't like wearing inners as they make your hands too hot and give me less feel on the handle. Does anyone have the leather restoring liquid they use on leather car seats? If so could you give it a go and see what happens.

Try non pittards?

Never got on with pittards. So don't use. And at one point this winter I was netting 4 times a week. Even twice a day once! My gray nics kaboom and prestige are still nice and subtle.

Don't we all :( He's lucky enough to have his own net!

I still do two-three sessions a week at the Prince of Wales nick, mainly against spin as I've totally got a new way to play, plus I face the guys from brum prem so I get to face true pace. unfortunately, last year the league I was in was crap, they were all league dilly dobblers and that's what I'm weak against.. for some reason I can't play medium crap.. pace sure.. spin.. sure... dilly dobbley, totally at sea

@ProCricketer1982 I may be able to get some "£60" gloves for £35

One solution is to rotate the gloves you use quite often, saves them from getting soaked with sweat

I would be happy to have 3-4 net sessions a SEASON!

Such are the joys of fulltime work :(

nets doesn't use up much time though, hour, hour and a bit max. turn up, machine on, hit hit hit.. unpad.. go home.  If I had to go to club nets type thing or set up the machine etc every time I wouldn't net as much.. would use up way to much time

This is true. There just aren't the facilities in Rural Australia to be able to do this easily unfortunately. That coupled with the fact that my hours of work are crap, and the team I play for are an hour away makes things difficult!

Back in the day when I was a flourishing junior living in the city I used to train 3 nights a week, and play 3 games a weekend. Those were the days!!
