Brendan Taylor joins Nottinghamshire on 3 year deal(KOLPAK)

Zimbabwe's premier player Brendan Taylor has ended his international career(for the time being) to play for Nottingham. Forget just looking at his averages, this guy has carried Zimbabwe's batting in the last 2-3 years and is a fantastic player. Over 200 caps for his country and 7000+ runs.

Taylor has stated he could return to Zimbabwe after the 3 year deal ends, or could try and qualify for England.

Such a shame for Zimbabwe to lose a player of this quality. Wishing him well for the future.

He's a very good bat and decent keeper - I'm surprised it's taken one of the counties this long to offer him a gig. Unfortunately it's a long line of Zimbabwe players who've done the same

Shame he won't be playing in international cricket, but will hopefully be nice to see him playing in county cricket this season as an alternative :). Would be 36 by the time he qualifies for England though so don't see that happening!

Am I the only one who finds this really depressing. Surely the county game shouldn't be a retirement home for ex internationals.

He's 29. Hardly retirement age?

a few is ok as they bring experience and knowledge, the problem is when we have too many 30+ guys just soaking up wages and playing slots with no hope of playing int cricket or preparing the younger ones for int cricket.
