Need help choosing new Albion Helmet
« on: March 14, 2015, 11:50:29 PM »

I been looking to get a Albion helmet as their weight Arw light. But I seem that some of their grills are really bulky. I have seen a ultimate debut and ultimate classic but not sure which one to go for. Want one where I can adjust the gap between the peak. And with smaller grill.

If you want to adjust the gap between the grille and the peak you'll need to get an older version.
The 2013 models on have fixed grilles that you can only move forwards and backwards.

As far as being bulky goes ive never found it an issue and I've got one of the larger old style grilles.

Also in answer to which one to pick. The ultimate debut is the entry level model, while the ultimate Classic is their flagship helmet (when it has the titanium grille)
The debut is cheaper so naturally has a more basic shell construction and a powder coated grille, while the classic is a higher quality carbon fibre shell and stainless steel or titanium grille. Both will do the job they're designed to do, it depend's what you actually want from your lid.

I got myself an ultimate classic a couple of weeks ago from here...

Very competitive price and free click and collect from matalan. There dont seem to be many around any more.  Slight word of warning, the picture shows the 2014 grille (I think) however it came with the 2013 one which is slightly different design, doesnt cover long chins quite as much.  You can move the grille forward or back but not up and down so a ball will never get through.  However vison seems to be fine.  The grille is definitely not bulky, less so than my old masuri. Very nice comfortable helmet.  I took a look at the ultimate debut however i was alarmed by the amount of flex in the peak which made me think a ball could squeeze through. But as cam says the ultimate classic shell is much more solid.
