No the forum are speaking the wider public I guess don't realy care as much as us on here.
You give your captain as long as he needs.

So games against the Windies are pointless your saying.

What happened to you can only do well against what your playing.

yes you can only score against what you are against BUT you should expect as a minimum more.. so I expect Cook should score at least 3 100's in 3 tests vs WI, plus 50's.. why.. because WI are pretty poor. So, even if he does score 1 100 and say 2 50's I'd count that as below what I expect of him. Same with Root, Bell etc. These guys need to really show their class vs the weak teams not just get 'just enough to keep their place' type of runs

Just being capt doesn't buy you more time, you should lead from the front more when you skipper, not hide behind it.

Yorkshire need another 40odd runs to win.

Given the MCC a real battering here!

To be fair there's the England Test Captain (whatever you may think of him) plus 3 other capped test players, plus 3 Senior and consistently performing County Pros (Mitchell, Hildreth & Rushworth) then 3 exciting young talents (Billings, Dunn & Ansari)

You're just on a bit of a grumpy tirade lately though aren't you?

well they've been smashed, hence the question ' Do the MCC ever win'

Have you seen what the ECB have done to the England set up?? I'd say it's pretty valid to be grumpy with life currently

For anyone that has followed cricket for longer than 5 minutes this just feels like the norm for English cricket, barring a few bright patches in the last decade ( mixed with some horrible stuff ) this has been English cricket for the last 30 years. As bad as this lot are they don't rate a mention in some of the sides turned out in the 90's.

So very true. Following England through the latter half of the eighties and the nineties, it was far worse than we see now. The team seemed to change for every test, players were brought in,chewed  up and spat out on what seemed like a daily basis  and we even ended up with Pattinson for that one test.

This is really little different, but in calling for change, make sure you are clear on what you want as we've tried many things and after a brief period of working most seem to fail.
