£90 per side per game?
It's 8 a side so over £10 match fees for hit and giggle? We get a full days cricket and a tea provided for less than that!
What are your annual subs, and how do you arrange a pitch? And more importantly, do you ever struggle to get a side out and get new blood in?

£70 annual subs blanket rate for all playing members.
We arrange pitches to correspond with league fixtures we are provided.
The pitch is our own for home games so arranged months in advance. For away games we turn up where we're told.

getting a side out is a bit of a struggle at £5 a go for hit & giggle, over £10 would be a deterrent.

our league is quite cheap, cost £5 for adults and £3 for juniors. the franchise owns the west somerset and taunton league. prices are very cheap as the club dont charge any money for the ground as its on the astro and take some money over the bar.

I play in the same league as James ^^^ and absolutely love LMS! Great format, everyone gets a game, and is good practice during the week ready for the weekend. Our team got to the nationals a couple years back, and had a very boozy weekend in Liverpool. Hope it takes off more around the country!- http://www.lastmanstands.com/player-profile&userid=41669

We run a league at our club.  Our 3s/4s pitch and 5s/6s pitches have astro turf so get games on.  Ours is £6 per player and I think we pay the umpire £15/20 but they also put out the boundaries, stumps, also score the game out in the middle whilst the next incoming batsman umpires from square leg.

Obviously the intent is to get new people into cricket/old players that dont have the time/a bit more midweek for those that want it.

Unfortunately, in Barbados a few of the sides are sponsored by their coaches (aka old farts with money) who are subsidising their trips so they can try and win it!  Absolute madness.  It is meant to be £1000 a player for 10 days.  All of the players I know out there (about 6 playing for a variety of teams they've never played for before the trip!) are paying only a couple of hundred quid each!

Kabir Ali played for one of the sides!

sounds expensive for such a short game. £5 for 2020 is bad enough really

It is expensive, but its the convenience. There is no 'club' to join, everything is taken care of with regards to organising things all you have to do it turn up and play. You don't have to train, or suck up to somebody to get 'selected' at least in all the teams I have seen its just mates who want to play cricket together. There is competition in the loosest sense of the word but mostly good fun and everybody just has a good time. I don't have the time to join a club, go to training during the week and play on the weekend so LMS is my only real option.

Agree with this, £5 to turn up and play. No setting up, umpiring, scoring, packing away, and everybody is pretty much guaranteed a bat and bowl!

I have to agree with the sentiments of the "social" aspect of this format.

However, I was 'done' by the team that I was filling in for last night and am still feeling quite frustrated.

Asked/told to bat at 8, more the latter than the former.

The opening bat also kept wicket (I am a keeper) and the other opening bat bowled first change.

The "captain" batted 3 and bowled first over.

I was asked to bowl the 14th over when they were 7 down, I refused.

My match consisted of fielding the ball 3 times, each time coming at a costly £3.33 (£10 match fee, somewhat different to others on here)

Personally I feel that this was quite out of order, but some may feel different, some may say that I was offered the chance to bowl, but at the time I was pretty annoyed and felt they were taking the pi**.

If someone was helping my team out, I would offer them the chance to open the bat/bowl or keep (If appropriate), I appreciate some people may not want to do this, but surely it is better to offer?

Personally I believe that it is experiences like this that is contributing to the decline in participation in cricket. Not me personally, who plays for a fantastic League team who ensure that everyone gets their fair share of game time and to me last night was "supposed" to be a bit of fun, helping out a few mates. I just won't offer to help out again.

But there will be individuals who could experience this in their first game of cricket or experience this week in week out.

Apologies, Rant Over.

I think you are completely correct, it is another factor in the decline in participation. However, quite a few purely play win at all costs so will say 'if x is a better bat and/or bowler then they bat/bowl higher regardless. Unfortunately, this attitude wins out as people associate winning with enjoyment.
