Kookaburra Kahuna 2015
« on: April 02, 2015, 09:40:28 PM »

Hi Folks,

Was just wondering to anyone who has or has seen the new kookaburra kahuna, is there much of a difference in the profile for this year concaving wise? If anyone has any pictures that would be great.

Thanks, Dan

Hi Dan, hows it going mate?
Although i haven't played with the 2015 kookaburra i have seen it. But first let me tell you about the 2015 kookaburra range:
Instinct - Light bat from kookaburra so you are going to find weight between 2.6,2.7,2.8. With the Instinct you will be getting small edges, high spine, a bit of concaving and a medium to low sweetspot.
Verve - Also another medium weight range bat from kookaburra, again 2.9-2.11 in weight. You will be getting a slightly bigger edge than the Instinct, mid to low sweetspot, again a bit of concaving and a slightly smaller spine than the Instinct
Kahuna - Medium weight range bat form kookaburra, you will find weights from 2.9-2.11. It has a mid sweetspot, normal kookaburra kahuna edges, small spine and again a bit
of concaving
Cadejo - The heavier bats from kookaburra for the 2015 range, bats come in about 2.10+ in weight. It has a mid to high sweetspot, the cool thing about the cadejo is that there are small groves to the edges this i think is a clever way of reducing the weight in such a way that it doesn't affect performance. The Cadejo has the biggest edge in the new kookaburra range - your gonna get 40mm edges and a high spine ( 65mm+ ).
Generally i dont like kookaburra bats because i dont see any value for money for the bats. I also didnt like the huge amounts that they had in their previous bats. But the 2015 season seems to be promising.

Hi Mate, Thanks for the information, I actually have a Kookaburra Verve, used it for the 1st time this week and it feels a really good bat. I however think it may be a tad too short for me. I think i may need a long blade but im not sure. Would there be any way to tell if i do? I also like the kahuna so was hoping the concaving is less this year than it was last.

Thanks, Dan

The 2015 Kahuna bats certainly have less concaving than last years model. The willow quality this year has also improved greatly and we currently have some stunners in stock.

As to whether you need a long blade, the first question I would ask is, how tall are you?

Yes VKS is right, there is less concaving than last year, i would reccomend buying the cadejo rather than the kahuna to be honest. I'm 170 and apparently i need a harrrow. but i have a harrow an a SH bat. with the harrow bat i tend to bend my back a bit and dont like that. With the SH it feels much better and since am short and facing some bouncier wickets here in Australia i tend to middle the ball better - with the harrow the ball always hits near the stickers!!! I'm also thinking of getting a long blade bat for this season, any thoughts???

Thanks VKS, would you by any chance be able to get me a few shots of the profile?, would be much appreciated. As for height, im around the 6ft3 mark or 189/190. I feel as though i do bend quite low in my stance and have a tendency to get yorked with the ball slipping under the bat.

Thanks, Dan

Yeah i was using my size 6 bat all season last year and whenever i was doing a drive the ball would go under the bat or hit the toe. I got out 3 or 4 times getting caught in mid on. funnily enough all three times it was against a spinner. the ball would be pitched a quite short on off stump and i would just slog it, the ball would hit the toe and  i would going back to the pavilion shaking my head :(. So i would recommend you getting a long blade.

Yeah i have a similar problem. Out of the times i batted last year, i was stumped for 48 with the ball sliding under the bat and bowled in the next game again by it being pitched up and attempting to drive 2nd ball i faced. I feel in good touch and feel im batting and striking the better than i ever have so far in pre season Managed to make it through 3 net sessions without being bowled then on the fourth i received a yorker and unsuprisingly i was bowled. Ive really been trying to work hard on my batting but the yorker problem keeps holding me back! haha

Inswinging leg stump yorkers - worst of the lot!

At 16 you're an ankle biter!  ;)

And 2010 Purist? Didn't realise they'd bought it back that soon. I thought they were more 2012/13
