Best way of cleaning muddy balls
« on: April 03, 2015, 10:11:21 AM »

Sorting through last seasons bag, I've come across league balls which are in a sorry state due to mud on the ball and in the seam. It's clear that when cleaned they'll still be class so just seeing what's the best way to clean them.

Here's a photo of 2 of them so you can see what I'm working with

Use a slightly damp rag/towel and really rub along the seam and it should get most of the mud out. If you're really OCd about it you could then use a toothbrush to get rid of the rest. Once removed dry it as best you can with the rag/towel.

Then polish one side with Vaseline to get it to swing round corners all over, the same way you'd do it in a match, to give it a nice finish  ;)

Just have a net with them, using an old bat, and most of the caked mud will loosen off. Then WalkingWickets technique will be fine and take far less time
