2008 vintage butterfly - was I ahead of the game?

Evening guys

Quick review on an oldie (but a goldie) from my collection.

As it's Easter Sunday, a time for family, I've spent the evening out in my garage (affectionately know as my (No Swearing Please) cave) cleaning this up.
It was originally a Wasp Sting 1000, bought in South Africa for about 600Rand (or about £40 at the time in proper money).

It used to have a layer of (what I assume was) blue gloss paint on the edges and back.

It's looking a bit worse for wear now a days, and I've taken the original stickers (and paint) off the bat and given it a new identity. I just can't bring myself to get rid of her though.
By no means a looker with 7 nearly straight grains and the blemishes all over, but does she ping!

The spec
Weight: 2lb9 & 3/4 with 2 and a half chevron grips.
Edges: 25mm
Spine height: 60mm

And some proper pictures

As you can see here, she's looking a bit used, but still in one piece!

I like the new colour scheme.

It's had those stickers a couple of years now, it was time for the "remove the tape and see if the damage is any worse" service haha.
Just need to get a new scuff sheet on and a couple of strips of tape to hide the cracks and she's hopefully good for another couple of seasons  ;)

Blimey, Wicket. Looks like it's been made from pine!   ???

They should have painted the face blue too.  :D

Still, if it pings, doesn't matter, does it!

Pine, willow, what's the difference!
For a £40 bat to be going into it's 8th season it doesn't owe me anything does it  :)
