People can be playing on the offside and still be bottom handed players. I for an instance am a strong bottom hand player but play mostly (>90%) on the off side, drill a lot of balls straight down the ground or through covers along with lots of fierce cuts.

I think what we are saying is that it's more common or  natural  for a bottom handed player to hit legside.

Exactly. dont over think too much. Batting is all about clear head and do what comes naturally... some very unorthodox batsmen have been very successful and scored lots of runs...
