Really need advice on this as I played my 3rd game on Sunday and destroyed by bat, after scoring 50 with similar bat on Saturdays game. 1st ball played on Off side gave a big damp on the hitting area and its like this bat never been knocked in but i have spent hours of knocking in with GN mallet and with Lignum mallet  and 2nd ball i tried playing on leg side but caught bottom Of right hander side and cause mess,luckily it had shoe goo applied to it and also fibre tape thats why it didnt chip the entire piece but creased the part and company i got from is well known to all and i wont mention no names as i like to know your opinion on this,They dont beleive me as they said damage of this kind only cause by digging yorker,They offered me repair but dont want to offer me replacement as they said this kind of damage dont cover.

There are alot of experienced guys here and even bat makers,Need your advice on this if its real true.

Hi mate

That doesn't look terminal to me by any means.
Sand the face, apply a coat of oil (it looks a bit dry to be honest) and then put a scuff sheet or some tape over the cracks (if they don't sand out).

That toe has started feathering, and all bats will do this eventually. Fill the cracks with glue and stand the bat on its handle over night, in my opinion it's nothing to worry about.

I don't see anything in your pictures that would warrant a replacement. It all looks very repairable.

Warranties are pretty clear, they cover obvious structural faults and manufacturing errors. Damage sustained from 'improper use' (ie not using the middle of the bat) is not covered, but luckily every company i have dealt with always kindly offer a free of charge repair to toe and edge damage. The damage you have circled on the face of the bat would lead me to suspect you (possibly through no fault of your own) have been batting against some very cheap, very hard balls.

As a side note, i've seen dozens of damaged bats recently, mostly toe damage similar to your photos. Do you know, not one customer smashed a yorker.... just saying

I got a yorker first ball I faced this season, it was a pretty sharp delivery from the opposition's opening bowler, and thinking entirely about bat preservation I left it and let my middle stump take the impact!

My teammates will tell you my bat came down about 3 seconds after the ball had hit the stumps, but I won't admit to anyone the ball beat me for pace lol

Jake you must have seen bats worse than this,Person like me whose bat chipped first time  and payed x amount of money will defo be worried,Thank both of you for saving me on this otherwise i would have been taking anger and frustration out on manufacturer,He did offered me repairs which is kind of him but reason i posted this to get hint what damages coverd by manufacturers.The circle was for manufacturer not for forum as wanted to highlighy where he should be looking at,Let me ask when you say cheap balls how do u suspect as the ball used on Satursday are duke but on Sundays its white And it feels quite hard.

There seems to be a lot of bats with cracked or damaged toes on here since the start of the season. Is this usual, does there tend to be more at the start of the season, or has the advent of different shapes (ie duckbill) led to thinner toes more vulnerable to damage?

I've definitely seen worse, if a fix is being offered I would suggest taking it, the bat will come back as close to looking new as is possible.

The shape of the crack on the face looks like a compression from a very hard impact. It can happen early in the knocking in process if you swing too hard at the bat.

Do you have any of the white balls in question? If yes cut one open and check to see if the leather is white all the way through or if it is just a painted layer on the surface. If this isn't an option perhaps try to get hold of one at the end of the next game, as it will be used the leather should be fairly worn. If it has gone green from the grass or appears to be a grey colour then the ball is a cheap nasty hard one, no matter the brand or the actual amount paid

Always thought bottom edges are never covered:( ...best is to knock the bats well and bind handle twine on two for some matches which would compact n strengthen the bottom .

 Without any doubt compression crack can happen any time regardless of how well the bat is knocked in this instance  my guess is the ball impact was on the edge of the toe.

The face impact looks pretty deep to me
Either the bat is very soft and or dry, or the ball was very hard/cheap.

If your unsure of the ball quality then a decent scuff sheet will offer a little protection

I agree with previous comments that a bit of glue will sort it out fine. Cracks on the face happen and like many others I always apply a scuff sheet. With regards to toe damage, it happens. Cricket balls are pretty hard and unfortunately no matter how well we prepare or look after our bats, cracks occur.

Send it off, get the repair, it will be cleaned up and returned looking great and ready to continue scoring runs with
