HELP!!!
The last two net sessions I've had I've developed the yips when bowling. I'm not a full time bowler (although secretly I've always wanted to be) I just fill in with a few overs when needed but all of a sudden I have lost my run up, the ball gets stuck in my hand, I've been bowling double bouncers and beamers....I'm at a loss to know what to do.
I normally just bowl gentle outswingers at no real pace.
What can I do?
Stop thinking about it for a start.
You have to remember what you could do and can still do and not worry about bowling a bad ball. Fear plays on a bowlers mind, "I must not bowl a bad ball" , when you are coming in to bowl. Instead the mindset should be "how am I going to get him out", concentrate on the batsman (and stumps) not your bowling. If you are in a game situation to just imagine your next ball as if you were bowling in the nets, relax and enjoy it.
Technically, bowlers struggle when they make a change it upsets there natural rhythm. Bowling at the correct pace for you is important, too slow or too quick and things can start to go wrong in the action. You need a biomechanical expert and some video analysis to explain it fully, but mindset and rhythm would be were I would start.
