the  thought that you need an high middle Bat makes little sense  why because batting is about how you play Technique and Timing are the key along with putting yourself in the perfect position to play the shot rather than where the middle of your bat is.

Also at 5ft 5 you should use an Harrow With a weight of around 2lb  6 ounces.

Everyone is entitled to an opinion but all the dwarfs on the forum seem to hit it high up the blade, does that not tell you anything? Not sure how you reckon 2'6 is ideal, the guy could be ripped (like @FattusCattus ) for all we know. I've used a 3'4oz bat successfully for a period of time!

When I'm not using my  SH size bats, I use a size-6 bat with a size 3 blade ( custom).  You will generate so much bat speed from this configuration that it is ridiculous. You can get the middle spot on high.

Been there, done that and started playing over yorkers at that length. 5'5 is short but not tiny!

Never had problem with Yorkers or fuller length driving with my size 6 bats. Only reason I switched to SH (which I hold right where I hold size-6 ) is because of heavier weights. I went up from 2-9 to 2-11 then 2-12 and now between 2-12 and 2-13.

@uksaunders , just to clarify, I hold the both type of bats (size 6 and SH) from the same position which means the same length of the bat is exposed to tackle Yorkers.

I'm only 5ft 7 myself and I use either low or mid middle bats at around 2 pound 7 to 2 pound 9 in weight, i'm hopeless at hooks, pulls and cuts so I tend to use back foot drives and the leg glance if i'm sitting back in the crease, most of the ball marks on my bat are in the middle of the blade.

Never stated 2lb 6lb was ideal  more that at 5ft 5 an Harrow bat should be considered.
Opinion no Fact Technique and Timing along with getting yourself in the correct position are the key to Batting.

Before getting into any debate about technique of bats I would first see if the same is true outside.

In England the ball tends to not bounce as much outside as it does in the indoor nets so this might actually be more to do with the surface than your height or technique.

I think Crictech sheets has disproved this to some extent. Pitches only make a marginal difference and it's mainly to do with the batsman. The batsman subconsciously adjusts to hit the ball in what he defines as the "middle", on a low deck that would mean more crouching. If you search on crictech you should see some topics discussing this.
