Vyper Venom LE cricket bat
« on: May 10, 2015, 01:28:53 PM »

I don't usually do these 'reviews' but here we go.

I have always been a Gray Nicolls man, and haven't really used anything else.
I wanted a custom experience but didn't want to pay the obscene amount that GN wanted for the lengend experience.

I had a hunt around and had a look at multiple manufactures from this site but from the power of social media I came across Vyper Cricket.

I had quite specific requirements but Paul went out of his way to accommodate me.
The bat turned out perfect and the price was quite reasonable too so over all I'm very happy with my new match bat.

The final specs were;
Weight - 2.8
Size - ssh
Edge size - 32mm
Spine - 61mm
Low/mid sweetspot
Oval padded handle on the bottom hand

Nice looking stick that.It has decent edges for the weight. The handle looks really thick at the bottom, is that due to the padding that you requested?

Do you  mind sharing how much you paid for it?

it is a great bat.
I payed £220 for it but that was because Paul was running a World Cup special offer at the time. They retail at £275 I think, but that is for their flagship top of the range LE model.

I have since beefed up the padding with some bandage tape as it helps my technique.

So what was specific in the specs that made Paul went out of his way?

So what was specific in the specs that made Paul went out of his way?

The brief was to basically to make me a large bat 60mm+ spine with 30mm+ edges but weighing in at around 2.7 with LE grade willow.
The bat fully stickered up with the scuff sheet, spiral grip and tape on the handle comes in at 2.8 which is pretty impressive.

I was the first to ask for a SSH too with an inch taken off the toe and an inch of the handle while keeping the feel and balance of the bat.

From the beginning we had the understanding that a high density cleft with LE looks like I was looking for don't turn up everyday but I eventually got the bat I wanted.
