I don't think we'll be capable of going in with 4 until we find a full time spinner capable of holding a space personally, you've also got to look at the long term with Anderson and Broad already being some of the most bowled players in the world at the moment, adding further pressure on them could start to reduce their career.

You are right about kp Cam when he started his career i played against him he was bowling offies.

I sincerely hope these reports turn out not to be true - surely the ECB have learnt that the previous 'sacking' was an error and has only fuelled the media's obsession with him, so why try and do it all over again?! If he now goes and gets several championship hundreds (as he could well do in this kind of form) then the whole issue will just raise its head again in a month's time and the saga will go on.

As much as it may be best for him not to be in the team due to disruptiveness etc., the ECB's management of the whole situation has been abysmal, just like it was with the sacking of Moores, Graves' statements before the WI tour, the sacking of Cook from the ODI captaincy... Some things never change it seems.

Why do the ecb insist on the "never play for England" line.

Why not merely pick a squad. And when questioned r.e kp. Just say he wasn't selected as other players in his slot. As they did with Thorpe etc.

Graves and Strauss???

I think this is a Strauss call alone. The ECB got him in because they are worried about too any Yorkshiremen taking over. Why else would there be rumours of them wanting Graves' to resign already.

Pietersen's probably the only English batsman I've enjoyed watching in the past decade, him and maybe an inform bell. The rest get runs, but i don't enjoy watching those accumulators.

People may agree or disagree with me, but in a time of turmoil, the ECB seem to be trying to stick to their decision on KP and no matter what he does, he will not be fairly considered due to the precedent set by Downton etc. The 2012 saga and reintegration was bad enough and I think, the ECB think that anymore reintegration processes would damage the ashes chances (even more).
It's a sad day when arguably the most entertaining cricketer of the past decade is cast aside in favour of a mediocrity.
The ECB must be expectant of the Ashes being retained by the Australians that much that they don't even bother inviting KP back. The sad, even tragic, thing about the whole affair is that KP intrigued and captured the attention of the public. Even now, we've got a thread in honour of whether he will or won't - a feat that no other player in English cricket could achieve.

For people like me, who've recently fallen out of love with cricket, a KP return would've most probably spurred me on to playing again - and this could've worked for the ECB to regain the numbers of participants in cricket.

Shame on the ECB for killing the ubiquity of having KP on TV; although, the odds for another Australian whitewash are decent!

Devils advocate here.
If KP is as disruptive as is made to believe then is their really any point discussing this issue? Sometimes you have to stick by tough decisions and it seems this is the case. The easy thing to do would be to let him back in the team and run the risk of manifesting itself all over again. Start again with no individual being bigger than the team. Perhaps he shouldn't be the only one cast aside.


Having said that I think the whole disruptive thing has been blown out of proportion and it was more a personality clash with the wrong individuals who held some sort of power. All great teams have members that don't get along but they make it work for the better of their team. It didn't work for too long in the English cricket team.
It's a shame we won't see him in the upcoming ashes as he's the one of the few batsman I fear can hurt us every time he walks out to bat.
