Asian Made Cricket Bats

Is there a valid reason why Asian made bats are closing in on the UK bat makers market in terms of quality and service ?

my experience is that many of the Asian batmakers are already on a par with uk makers - the quality of the bats being made in india now is (and has been for a while) fantastic.

Price would be a factor I guess and also as Buzz mentioned the quality is getting better and better.

Without doubt the quality of Asian made have improved also theres quite a few Uk brands now selling bats made on the sub continent.

one thing for sure this year SS has access to the best quality willow in all the grades

I have been using an SS Ton Heritage in T20. It flies straight out the wrapper more or less.
I took the stikcers off the back as they're huge. Despite stories of hiding massive imperfections, the willow is as clean as the face, and the handle is fitted flush in the vee. Good bat, very impressed.

I did ask the question earlier in this thread of 'are they' but from my own personal experience having two Asian brand bats (SF & SS) I can say they quality of willow is just as good however the differences I can see between the Asian and UK bats are the following;
  • The finishing of the bats may be a little inconsistent and the finish quality can sometimes be poor
  • The distinct lack of variations in shapes and look
  • Copying off other brands i.e. stickers (See SS Master Series)

If anyone can add to that list then feel free. I'm not bashing foreign bats but I think UK made ones still have an edge over them (pardon the pun) when it comes to the finished article but that gap is narrowing.

Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but commonly Asian-made bats have a lower moisture content, no? Meaning they can make big-looking, lightweight bats, but because of their dryer nature, are more prone to damage.

I've been repairing and knocking in lots of SS, BDM, TON, SM, MRF, Adidas, Spartan etc lately because the local indian lads have set up their own all year round 20/20 comp.
I have to say they are just so cheap, not only what they are paying, but sometimes in quality too.

Majority have rubbish stickers, brandings that look average to me, generic profiles and round handles of dubious durability. I've had to knock a few i (sometimes after they have used them) and they seem to perform and pickup well. The willow itself in most was good quality but with the exception of a few definitely over dried rater than low density.

Then there was the 50mm edged monster that was 'guaranteed' to perform. No doubt because it was so softly pressed, that the next time is saw it it was full of cracks and falling apart.

They are getting these  locally in india for well under A$100, withal, the hologram stickers etc.These are the same bats selling for twice that or more from various online store based in india.

I think the quality of some of the Slazengers i purchased last season off sportsdirect was more consistent, but the willow of lower quality. Here is a batch i did in march.

Like most on here I've owed far too many bats from far too many brands, but despite them having amongst the worst stickers and being finished to a fairly poor standards the two best bats I've used have both been lower model CA bats that i picked up for around 100GBP.
