« on: May 20, 2015, 03:45:08 PM »

One of my foam ear inserts (I think that is what you call them) has fallen off and lost??. Any ideas where you can get replacements or should i just bin the other one as they make no difference???

They're a pain, aren't they?  Always dropping off.  Get in touch with Masuri directly - they might send you a free one to make amends for a terrible design flaw.  I'd be inclined to retain them; just in case.

I noticed players in the NZ/Eng Lord's Test who had theirs attached by various bits of tape/plaster etc.  Can't remember who - perhaps is was Stokes - who only had one protecting his right, side-on, ear.  You could try that - if you've lost the other one.

They recently tweaked the design to incorporate a neat little clip as seen here. Some of our stock already has this newer design, anything ordered going forward will also carry it i suspect.

What are the point of the foam pads, do they actually do anything or are they purely there for aesthetics?

Stop the grill from smacking into your cheekbone?

OK, that looks better.  Will these clips retro-fit previous pads?

Here is Guptill with plaster, and Stokes with one pad missing:

Or are they an anti-sledging, soundproofing safety feature?

@Vitas Cricket Any plans to retro fit them or replace people who've only just bought one?

Do they come with an insert on the front for our Dave Warners...  :-[

I think plaster tape around the ear pads on any helmet makes it look mega classy

Not sure if they are retro fittable, it looks possible but would require some skill with a sharp blade to cut small holes into the foam.

As for existing purchases, it would be something to raise with Masuri. We were not advised on these advancements, new stock arrived recently carrying the clips.

I know this is an older thread but my VS Elite Titanium had the ear pads issue, I contacted Masuri about it and they sent me some new ear pads with the clips free of charge. They were sent on Tuesday afternoon/possibly Wednesday morning and they arrived on Thursday. I fitted them to my helmet and they fitted fine and look awesome especially with the StemGuard on the back. Very happy with how Masuri dealt with the issue, very quick in responding and also in sending the replacements.
