There are bats selling as "blemished" and "warehouse clearance" on the MSR ebay site, some that look like what people sell as butterfly and some that look like firewood. But for those of us on a tight budget, they look big, if they ping and you can get a big low middled 2.11oz bat for �40, I think I've found every future bat I'll own.

Has anyone bought any of these bats?

If I can get something with a big responsive low middle for �40 I reeeally don't care what it looks like.

I had a 2lb10 one with a low middle. It was �25 from a forum member from memory.
By the time I'd added grips, scuff & stickers it was 2lb13.5

I had planned to use it as a wet/net bat. It went well in the winter nets, but has since been "borrowed" by a teammate who assures me "it's got a lovely middle"

From experience I'd recommend them as mine pinged well (while I had it) but I wouldn't want to say all the cheaper range of their bats will be trampolines. I might've just got lucky, but for the price they're worth a gamble

I was given a G1 MSR. It is very firmly pressed. It is possible/probable that all of the MSR bats are the same, particularly the lower grade ones. This would make them last longer. Blemished bats should perform to the same level as a G1 though. My MSR is slowly getting better but has had a lot of bashing with the mallet.

I have one - a £35 butterfly bat - it is fine, have used it in a game and use it in the garden - does a job.

I've had one of their �40 jobbies as a net bat, was ok until the handle fell out (but that could happen with any bat tbh) it certainly felt quite hard though, made a real crack noise when you hit the ball.

But as said above, they do a job, as long as you don't expect too much then they'll serve you fine.

I've had a few direct from MSR, several net bats which as others have said were pressed very hard but do a job. Obtained another for a team mate who wanted a low middled light bat and he's still using it 3 years later, albeit he doesn't bat that often.

Good thing about them is that there is a bat to suit any budget.

We've a couple of 40 quid jobs in the club kit, their very good for the price point.

ive had 4 over time. think i h2ave one left in the spare room some where. i sold one to cam and and a couple of team mates all pinged nicely. one of them had a handle gone after a few games but MSR replaced it without any hassle

We now have 3 in our club & they go well. I went to see Steve to get a net bat & he's really helpful. I would say that it's worth paying an extra �10-�15 as you get a much better bat. Not going to complete with the sponsors on here but for �50-�60 it's good bang for your buck!

I have used a couple before, a butterfly and a premier elite both were fantastic. I bought a couple more, a butterfly and a lam for �60 shipped.Waiting to knock these in.Definitely are good value bats.

Ive posted on here before about my experience with MSR,

I find their grading process rather confusing: If you look on ebay they have quite a sporadic pricing arrangement. For example they have Grade 1 unblemished bats for �120.00, followed by identical Grade 1 bats for �90.00??? then others for �190.00 so you never really know what you are getting.

Anyway, I had a Grade 1 a few years back and when I took the stickers off it was covered in filler. The bat was a decent bat but the craftsmanship was shocking to say the least.

I would pay �40 for their bats to use in nets but if you are looking at their top bats, theres much better alternatives for that money!

They are all made in bulk overseas so quality control isn't quite there.
