West Indies made a hash of their first innings. They reached 1/63, before collapsing to 148 all out. 3 wickets for the impressive Josh Hazlewood, 3 also for Mitch Johnson, a couple for Mitch Starc(who was pretty lively) and 1 a piece for Lyon and Smith.

Australia's reply didn't start off too well either, Davy Warner falling early to Jerome Taylor. Shaun Marsh and Steven Smith looked to be developing a partnership when Marsh fell to Jason Holder. Then Michael Clarke fell to leg spinner Devendra Bishoo.

Smith and debutant Voges currently together.

where are the young batsman in Aus? :o
Plenty around but thankfully they are just picking guy's on form, not just potential.

I've got no problem with selectors picking guys with sustained form rather than flash in pan form. Doesn't matter what their birth certificate says.

I'm disappointed that there's been indications that Voges will debut ahead of Ahmed.
Ahmed was among the best bowlers in the domestic season, bowled well in the tour match and the track looks like it will take well to the spinners. Surely this is as good a chance as any to give him a crack and especially with the Ashes coming up it'd be handy have a leggie with good test match practice.
And going into the test a batter short might put our top order under the pump a bit but that could only be good experience in the long run?

Is there anyway to delete an earlier comment? Haha, well batted Voges!!!!!!!

I can't see us playing 2 spinners anywhere at the moment with our seamers going so well so it's always going to be between Lyon and Ahmed, I am so glad Voges got rewarded for a massive shield season, one of the nice guy's of cricket.

A quite brilliant debut innings by Adam Voges. Marshalled the tail in a Michael Hussey manner. Crucial innings for Australia and a moment in Voges' career that looked like never happening.

Dev Bishoo bowled really nicely and if West Indies have selected a second spinner they may well have skittled Australia for under 150.

Go work by Johnson and Starc to snare the openers. Looking likely as an innings victory.

Interesting fact both Adam Voges and Luke Ronchi made their WA debuts In the same match, and now some 12 years later they make their Test debuts 5 days apart.

Clinical win, Harris may not get back in if the bowlers keep producing like this. Crickets a funny game but if you go on form only England should get trounced this ashes series.

Bishoo takes a shed load of wickets in the first test and had the Aussies stuggling to play him so they drop him from the 2nd test....
