Apologies if this has been discussed before, but rather than hijack the bat weight threads that are running, what is the thought on balance as opposed to pick up, or even balance and pick up/balance and dead weight? I'm sure some of the learned counsels on here must have something interesting to say

I test the pick-up on any bat first before even bothering with the weight - it prevents any pre-conceptions.

I only bother to find out the weight after I've decided if I can use it.
