After the eye injury he got he has decided to retire from the professional game. It is a shame as he had talent in the county circuit. Doubts about his international quality though

Will always be remembered for the T20 world cup where he was quite brilliant and took a fresh approach of "bongo"ing it miles at a time which England so badly needed that kind of player opening in the shorter formats. One of the best big hitters over the extra cover boundary iv seen.

I got hit a couple of years ago in the cheekbone and my face looked very similar to his when he got the injury. perhaps makes you think we should never take playing the great game for granted

Read this earlier. He mentioned them playing English vs Saffers in training, and dressing room jokes about the SA members, and how this damaged morale. I think in any dressing room this goes on when you have an Aussie, Saffer, etc. in the team? At the end of the day, they're all cricketers and should be able to get along with each other and play together regardless of who's friends with who etc. I'm sure all of us have a teammate/colleague we aren't best mates with, but you get on with it!

Who knows? However I suspect that he will be insured against a career ending injury, in common with lots of pro sportsmen. Maybe they would then pursue a claim against the helmet manufacturer?
