2016 Cricket Shoes & Jazzy Colours - Your Thoughts
« on: June 05, 2015, 03:55:37 PM »

So,

We've just seen the Asics 2016 range and i must say it it pretty plain/minimalist, certainly compared to some of the whacky offerings and the general red theme from all the other footwear suppliers this season. We had plenty of 'old heads' in the shop this pre season who just couldn't convince themselves to buy certain shoes due to the look of them.

What are your thoughts? Is it the brighter the better? Is plain and simple the way to go, or is there a space for all options/tastes?

Surely having a snazzy one and a plain one of similar standard and comfort will give them more potential customers. I bought my gel advance 5's from the asics outlet store in cheshire oaks and I quite like them. I might just wait till next season for the 6's to appear in the shop!

I like a two tone shoe like the Blue/White Adidas Twenty20 shoe or the Nike Orange/Red and White. I do like the minimalist approach too though, I guess I'm quite easy to please.

All options should be considered. Personally i'd like some Nike Air Jordan 1s in spiked form, but that would be stupidly expensive and somewhat impractical. I've had the same pair of addidas spikes since I was 16 and they're quite plain in appearance but i'd be more than happy with the more flashy coloured shoes. I quite like those red Addidas shoes, they're popular with the Lancs players from what i've seen.

Why the distinction?

I can't stand all the bright shoes and prefer the plainer one personally.

Am hoping there are some plain ones for next year with a little light blue trim...!

As you know jake I like a jazzy shoe ;-)

When I went to lords lately the Adidas orange heel really did stand out (my wife who came with me made particular comment on them). I guess Asics have always been quite traditional although do some jazzy colours in their running shoes so maybe a matter of time before they do something

Think my 5's will do me a couple of seasons the way I'm batting anyway!

I have gel advance 5 - I don't care what colour they are, the support is a marked improvement on 22yds

I don't mind a bit of colour but I quite like a really old school look too. Either way I do pick kit on looks as well as comfort. I can't stand it when people have a problem with bright colours or anything that is new and different. Cricket is a sport where you can bat, bowl and field in many different ways to get the same result so variety is surely part of the game. Or am I on my own?
