Not sure if many of you have seen this but apparently there is a new bat being developed by Technology students in India:
Basically, the front of the bat comprises of tapered edges which result in a better aerodynamic design but also.... and here's the interesting bit.... the tapered edges have been proven to "deaden" the trajectory of the ball when a batsman edges it behind. So, a standard delivery that would carry to clips under conventional circumstances now falls well short of the slip cordon.
The MCC have apparently approved the design, can the game become any more batsman friendly?
Maybe us bowlers should start using one of those half tennis ball-half cricket ball projectiles to entice a bit of swing!
Sounds ridiculous to me and I can only assume that this bat will result in plenty of injured slip fielders!
