hi fellas,

we play lots of astro turf here & was wondering which shoes do you recommend for an all round play (batting, bowling & feilding).
have my eye on the new puma evospeed cricket rubber 3.3 but have heard asics & new balance does make some mean boots..

For me when it comes to running, cricket or sporting shoes the answer is always Asics.

I recently got a pair of Gel Peake for an overseas tour. They were very comfy straight out of the box and would happily recommend.

They make an asics hard wicket shoe here in Australia for Astro turf, don't have hose rubber spikes to screw in and out. I haven't had any glory with any shoe for Astro turf - I hit the deck really hard and my front foot always slides. However, I stick with the asics.

It's all about new balance!

I used to rock puma evospseeds for the AstroTurf.  But once I bought I a pair of NB spikes. I knew I need some rubbers too.

Evospseeds got replaced by new balance. And they are spot on. Soft. Comfy good grip. But decent made (took a yorker to the foot last wed.

I know on 4 sets of new balance cricket shoes.  And 5 sets of there trainers!

Yes mate those are the ones. Funnily enough, called 'gel hardwicket' I've had mine for about 3 years or so, mind you I only train on Astro turf don't play on it week in week out

They aren't too bad, they have probably gotten lighter over the years I would say. I've always been an asics faithful however NB shoes do look alright and are earning rave reviews. Not sure I'd ever stop using asics though!

Always go Asics for any sporting shoe they really are the best. I use the strike rate shoes with the pin's in for batting on astro I think you would want something with more grip for bowling though.

There are plenty of Asics options though.

I would stay away from NB shoes two people at our club have had them for less than a season and the shoe has come away from the sole.

One these was a fast bowler and he had the same type of incident that happened to that Scotland player at the world cup, very nasty!
