Bat tape or re scuff? Or both?
« on: June 29, 2015, 10:08:25 PM »

I have an m&h solution which is around 5 years old now which I love it scored a lot of runs with it

I removed its scuff sheet the other day as it was along time since it had been done and wanted the natural look (no scuff) Some parts lifted and I fear there is some delamination as too (see pics)

I have glued and sanded and oiled the best I can however after having a very brief net with it they started to lift again.

So I am not sure what to do now... Not keen on re scuffing as I think it might be causing the lifting etc
I clearly can't leave it with no protection as it will break for sure.
So this leaves using fibre bat tape? Which I'm not keen on lol
I see some pro use tape underneath a scuff any merit in this?

That's not tape under a scuff mate you can get a scuff sheet made completely from edge tape, personally just sand again look lightly and add a decent scuff and that's that.

this is what I did - it is now my net bat lol
I didn't use it through out the season - your H4L NV (which I bought from you off ebay) did me well as well as my other M&H solution

I am after something else for this season if you have anything else for sale haha

do both

I've used both in the past and currently do. Tape the main cracks and area of concern for extra protection, then the scuff sheet is there for the whole bat and helps reinforce tape in my opinion. Can't see any negative side affects of that anyway

How does it look now?

Here is it today after the referb I did on it last year -

I have decided that this is now my net bat and I placed a scuff on it to keep it together - have scored a lot of runs with this so don't want to get rid of it :-)
