Sadly, if it went that way, history would dictate that Cook would grimly hang on until the end.

Leading Aussie run scorer: Michael Clarke
Leading Aussie wicket taker: Mitchell Starc
Leading English run scorer: joe root
Leading English wicket taker: Mark Wood
Series result: 2-2
Man of the series: Ali Cook

Other: Something is brewing in English cricket, the Lion awakes from it's slumber and England actually compete - book these predictions for the end of the series, and then tell me I'm mad:

Cook will score runs
Bell will be poo
Root will score loads and become a hero
Stokes will become Botham-lite, smacking a few and bowling a few
Ali will disappear from the reckoning, Rashid replacing him for the last 2 tests
Wood will be a revelation
Broad will be poo
Anderson will be average, take a few and bow out gracefully after the series
Buttler will only make one score - but it will win a test.

Bayliss will be hailed a genius and will drop in a couple of inspired selections.

Leading Aussie run scorer: Warner
Leading Aussie wicket taker: Hazlewood
Leading English run scorer: Root
Leading English wicket taker: Broad
Series result: 2-2
Man of the series: Stokes
Other: Broad will bowl tripe for at 50% of the time but win at least one test match with a spell in which he remembers to pitch it up
Smith won't get many
That Mitchell Johnson, his bowling will be sh*te
At least 5 players' careers will be more or less over in test match cricket after this series
England bring in at least one debutant who does well.
